Multi-family construction has many unique obstables and design knowledge required. The Multi-family Proficiency Exam gives professionals the opportunity to differentiate themselves in the multi-family marketplace.

WHO SHOULD TAKE THE TEST?
The test is ideally suited for Architects, Contractors, Developers, Engineers, and other Professionals who've developed core skill sets in their respective focus on building construction. You should also have some exposure outside of your field to understand the overall construction process. If you know what Cap Rates, Shearwalls, IBC, and Flame Spread are then this test is likely for you.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
To earn the proficiency certification a comprehensive exam must be completed with a focus on: Engineering, Exterior Claddings, Finance, Fire Protection, Heights & Areas, and Roofing. Examinees are required to meet an aggregate 80 percent score. The section with the lowest score will be removed from the overall scoring. Engineers can skip the Finance section and vice versa for example. Certification is valid for one year. The first 100 applicants to successfully complete the certification can do so at no charge. After the first 100, the fee is only $20 for the rest of 2020 ($100.00 value). Currently there is no fee to take the exam. Any fees are collected after you've passed the exam.
Below are links to each exam section. Once you begin a section it must be completed so give yourself ample time. Each section is 10 questions. These questions can be difficult, so have your building code and google search ready to assist you. Even if you know your stuff, some resources will likely be needed.

EXAM REVIEWS and report outs
At the end of each week, typically on a Friday all exams are compiled and results sent back out with a progress update.

Once you've completed all 6 sections, candidates who have successfully passed the exam will be provided with a certificate of completion.
